Iron Ore Granulation for Sinter Production: Developments, Progress, and Challenges

Iron ore granulation is an indispensable process in the production of sinter that can influence and regulate yield, efficiency quality. Although a great deal research has been done on over past decades, we still need to think about current future development this process, as essential raw material for ironmaking blast furnace today. This paper begins with review particle agglomeration theory sintering granulation, followed by summary existing evaluation methods indexes. The roles iron ore, fuel, fluxes, moisture are also analyzed, finally advanced equipment processes industrial production, well their applications, summarized. Correspondingly, challenges field proposed include: (1) Development industry; (2) Ore blending optimization based synergistic coupling sintering; (3) Optimization equipment; (4) Methods tools scientific research. These issues will be tackled overcome both steel enterprises academic researchers, generating suggestions granulation.
